Comedy Parody?, November 9, 2013
Streetfighter caught my attention as a film due to my familiarity with the Streetfighter 2 game and hearing about the movie from my husband. Yes, I have played Streetfighter 2 on my cellphone many times after first buying it as an app in the summer of 2010. I decided to give this movie a chance and watched it throughout its entirety. Some of the pros: Jean- Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue, and Raul Julia are some of the celebrities who star in "Streetfighter". Additionally, the a variety of the following game characters were included in this movie: Ryu, E. Honda, Blanka, Guile, Ken, Chun Li, Zangief (this character also referenced in the 2012 "Wreck It Ralph film), Dhalsin, Vega, Balrog,Sagat, T. Hawk, Dee Jay, Cammy, and M. Bison. It is also clear that Jean Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia did their best to keep the plot afloat with their character of roles of Guile and M. Bison. The cons: The film could have been made stronger by including some of the game characters being included to help Guile carry out his work. It was as if Guile was made the leader to do most of the fighting with occasional help from Chun Li, Ken, Ryu, and E. Honda. Including more frequent support combats scenes from T. Hawk, Cammy, E. Honda , Ken, and Ryu could have made the film stronger because of Guile realistically being given the help he needs to implement his mission. Please know that I do admire the music of Kylie Minogue (thanks to my husband introducing her music to me) and look forward to more creative works from her. However, I was not use to seeing her as Cammy and feel that her artistic talents could be better utilized in a science fiction project (such as when she appeared in Dr. Who back in 2007) and/or a fantasy, animation, and/or action/romance type film. However, my husband felt that Raul Julia's performance as M. Bison was one of the best parts of the Streetfighter film. Naturally, I would guess that diehard other fans of Jean Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue, and/or Kylie Minogue may enjoy this film. I would recommend watching "Streetfighter" for free first (if possible)before purchasing the dvd.

Music Sampler Of Trance/Electronic Hybrids, November 29, 2013
Tomorrowland 2013: Arising Of Life caught my attention due to my previous enjoyment of the 2012 series. Additionally, I stumbled across the official Tomorrowland music channel that is on youtube. Their official youtube channel is a perfect place to visit if you would like to hear extended samples of the songs available on Tomorrowland 2013. Tomorrowland 2013: The Arising of Life is a two disc (double cd set) that has 26 tracks on the first cd and 15 music sets on the second cd. My personal favorite from this collection is Like Home by Nicky Romero & Nervo. However, many more gifted musicians are featured on this collection such as Zedd, Martin Garrix, Alesso, Armin Van Buuren, Trevor Guthrie, Hardwell & Diro feat. Bright Lights, Yves V and more. A complete track listing is currently available on Amazon Germany.

Thawing A Frozen Heart, November 29, 2013
“Frozen” is a colorful animated film involving two sisters named Anna and Elsa gifted with unique snow magic. Elsa is aware of the talents that exist in both her and Elsa. However, Elsa has certain reasons for keeping them secret. Meanwhile, they are both part of a prestigious and royal lineage. This sets the stage for other people of noble birth who want to come and visit the sisters. Anna more than welcomes the visit, but Elsa is naturally nervous about ways to deal with this. I also liked one of the hidden positive messages to the film where it is implied that it is possible that a person can often have more power within them than they realize. “Frozen” is a lively holiday movie that is safe for all ages.

Potential Realities, November 29, 2013
The Day Of The Doctor features both Matt Smith and David Tennant who unexpectedly collide with each other in this episode/film. There is also a serious meeting with their past incarnation from their homeworld (played by John Hurt). They are important to dealing with shapeshifters who seem to want to invade the earth. All three men do an illustrious job of collaborating together in their roles as time lords who must deal with both their home world of Gallifrey and the shapeshifters. It was a good idea to have Bille Piper return. Billie Piper and Jenna Coleman also give strong performances in their roles as vital helpers to the Doctor’s personal evolution (Coleman in the companion role and Piper as a powerful interface of a superweapon). Parts of the plot involve returning to the time era of Queen Elizabeth. I must refrain from saying more out of consideration for those who have yet to see The Day Of The Doctor. However, this is a thrilling science fiction movie that plays with the idea of what can happen if one is given the chance to see their future selves materialize before them. The website of bbcamericadotcom contains further details on The Day Of The Doctor and the actors/actresses who are also part of the film.

Velvety And Superb Vocal Cover, November 29, 2013
“Somewhere Only We Know” by Lily Allen caught my attention due to my previous enjoyment and familiarity with “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane. I like both versions, but admit that Lily Allen puts her unique and passionate spin on the song. She sings extremely well on this cover and gives a believable portrayal of singing it as if it may have been the story of her life in past experiences (whether or not this happened). The cover is available to listen to on youtube and is best for those who are familiar with Keane’s rock version and/or enjoy smooth synth-pop ballads.

Nickelback’s Greatest Hits Sampler, November 23, 2013
The Best of Nickelback Volume 1 features a strong range of this band’s rock hits across the span of their career. There are a range of popular and fantastic songs on this compilation such as “Photograph”, “Rockstar”, “Savin Me”, “If Today Was Your Last Day”, “Far Away”, “Lullaby”,“If Everyone Cared”, and “This Afternoon.” My first Nickelback collection was “All The Right Reasons” and was purchased by my husband as a birthday gift for me around what I believe was Autumn 2007. However, many newcomers to the music of Nickelback would also like many of the songs on this collection.

A Medium’s Spiritual Light, November 23, 2013
Yes, I know that I was supposed to postpone reviewing further books until 2016, but I changed my mind due to an intuitive and logical feeling that my life path is indirectly related to sharing and being exposed to a wide range of books from various book genres. I feel this way very strongly even if some of the men and women I know, respect, and admire judge me for doing so. Lights On In Heaven: A Biography of The Spiritualist Medium Cerris Hulse by Richard Haines caught my attention due to the emphasis on how her life purpose was shaped. I was both shocked and relieved for her when she recounted how her first husband treated her before she left him and went on to meet her second husband who treats her much better some time later. Fortunately, my own husband is good to me (through both great and challenging times)and sees the brilliance in me. Hulse bravely shares how her past lifetimes shaped her current personality and interactions with her own guide. Her journey towards becoming a spiritualist medium is also peppered with some of her own spiritual beliefs. She makes some persuasive points on the spirit realm and bravely shares how finding what she was meant to do indirectly strengthen her self-confidence. However, one of the few areas I respectfully disagree with her on is the spiritual evolution of men and women who commit suicide. She basically implies that most suicides have to reincarnate back on earth and are not allowed to progress in the higher planes of the spiritual realms. She may or may not be right about this, but I believe that there is a chance that some souls of who committed suicide can still progress into higher worlds even without reincarnating back on earth in accordance with the intent behind the suicide and the soul’s spiritual advancement. In other words, it is not another human beings place to judge those who do commit suicide and only the suicide’s higher self in conjunction with other advanced beings of light (in the non-physical realms) can make that call on the next step in such a serious situation (not another human being regardless of how psychic or highly intelligent they may be). Please know that I personally do not condone suicide and I know that I am going to always have the strength to live out the rest of my life due to a feeling that I am on this earth (during this current lifetime) for a reason. However, I also have compassion for the psychological and spiritual causes of what could drive other people to successfully carry out such a controversial act. Aside from this caveat, Lights On In Heaven: A Biography of The Spiritualist Medium Cerris Hulse by Richard Haines is a meaningful read.

Money Magazine: 2013 Retirement Edition, November 23, 2013
Special Retirement Issue of Money Magazine: Retire The Way You Want caught my attention due to my own stronger awareness that I am now at a life stage that the actions I take this year are pivotal for how the mid 2020’s to later are going to be for my husband and I. Practical articles included in this issue are such titles as “Get More Out Of Your Closet Space”, Dream Big, Act Now: Six Secrets of Retirement, and Quittin Time (features of three couples who are taking steps on their retirement planning). Yes, I am aware that my actions related to personal finance today are also going to define and shape what type of retirement that is created. My only caveat is that a feature on ideas to consider when planning an eventual move to a lower cost area as an indirect move towards retirement planning would also make for a great inclusion in Money Magazine’s retirement edition. I admit that I say this because both my husband and I enjoy living in the Washington D.C. area, but are now planning a move to a lower cost area for the long-term. We are both doing this with both eyes open because we use to live in this particular area and know what to expect. I am a prior military veteran with a bachelor’s degree and I’m fortunate to be a generously paid Walmart employee (neither my husband or I receive any government assistance). I must refrain from disclosing the area that my husband and I are planning to move to for now, especially because I would prefer to only publicly mention it after I’ve already moved there. It is also because I want to be considerate to my employer due to the fact that I was told with my orientation group that we were the top applicants out of the approximate eleven thousand people that applied for Walmart employment (only around 2.5% of applicants were initially accepted). What this has to do with the retirement issue is that I appreciate my generous Walmart pay and calculated that my pay would go much farther in the region that my husband and I would move to for our long term retirement goals. Aside from the moving to a lower cost area for retirement planning caveat, this special retirement issue of Money Magazine (March 2013) is a high quality read especially for those in the beginning stages of retirement planning.

Blissful Romance, November 16, 2013
I wish that I could make out the full meaning of this song. However, I would have to guess that “Sweeter Than Fiction” by Taylor Swift appears to be a tune about someone who is in love with a person who is a dream come true. “Sweeter Than Fiction” is best for those who like upbeat pop tunes.

Potential Love Triangle Dilemma?, November 16, 2013
"Perfume" by Britney Spears is more of a romantic ballad that appears to be about a woman trying to see where she stands with a love interest. She sings about "making her mark" on him with perfume. In real-life, this would be too much of a soap opera-ish way of handling a romantic rival. However, in all fairness, the artistic quality of this pop love ballad is there.

Romantic Music With A Futuristic Slant, December 3, 2013
Britney Jean by Britney Spears showcases Britney Spear’s musical talents through a relationship and seizing life type of sound lense. I enjoyed listening to her new release from this perspective due to also liking other songs that also touched on the romance angle such as And Then We Kiss,Break The Ice, If U Seek Amy, and Gasoline. She continues on this unique angle with catchy songs such as Alien, Work, Perfume, It Should Be Easy (feat. William), Tik Tik Boom (feat. T.I.), Body Ache, And Brightest Morning Star. However, personal favorites from Britney Jean are most likely going to be as diverse as those who listen to her music (including myself). Britney Jean by Britney Spears is great for those who enjoy listening to music with elements of synth-pop, eurodance, and electronica.

Spiritual helpers symbolizing self-belief, finding tranquility and serenity, security and cleansing away something from the past and/or present are some of the concerns touched upon in An Angel For Every Day by Angela McGerr.

Sampling of Perspectives From Buffett & Gates, December 3, 2013
Buffett & Gates Go Back To School (PBS Home Video) is sponsored by the University of Nebraska foundation and features both men giving a candid and informative presentation. Additionally, I noticed that both of them took the time to inject humor in many of their questions raised by the University of Nebraska students. The following also includes tidbits about both men during the video: Buffett has license plates that say thrifty. A $1,000 Berkshire Investment In 1965 would be worth about $5.5 million today. Buffett took a Dale Carnegie public speaking course in 1951. Gates receives millions of e-mails per day. Most of it is spam. Buffett still lives in the same house he bought in 1957 for $31,500.00 (thirty one thousand and five hundred U.S. dollars and zero cents). Both Bill Gates and Warren Buffett have three children. Please know that there is much more interesting tidbits and information that are packed into the dvd. Reluctantly, I admit that I’ve obviously only included a brief sampler, due to writing this in a rush (before getting ready for work). Buffett & Gates Go Back To School is great for those who like to watch inspirational and informative content.

Retirement Goals, November 29, 2013
How To Retire Early by Robert & Robin Charlton contains information on what the couple did to make their dreams of early retirement come true within 15 years. They admit that being a child-free couple helped them to succeed with their 15 year retirement goal. However, they also emphasize how their ideas could also work for those who have children. They also mention the pros and cons of renting versus owning a home. There is also discussion around healthcare, but this edition is before the recent laws that have been passed. They also discuss the pros and cons of living in one area versus moving around. This was important to me because my husband and I intend to retire and stay in the United States of America. I’m thankful to have been born in America and both my husband and I are proud to be American citizens. This book is packed with much more vital information around the retirement goal for those who would like to achieve this objective within 25 years or less.

Inside The Mind of Walmart’s Founder, November 29, 2013
I felt compelled to check out “Made In America” by Sam Walton out of curiosity and pride with being a Walmart employee. I was exposed to some of Walton’s philosophy during my orientation and felt curious to check out more. The following are some of the tidbits included in “Made In America” by Sam Walton: Pages 1-3: He mentions how his life changed after interviewing with Forbes magazine in October 1985 (after he was named the “richest man in America). A harrowing experience is also recalled when he talks about being “ambushed by The Lifestyles Of The Rich and Famous Guy” at a tennis tournament. Page 70: Jim Walton recalled how some writers thought that his father (Sam Walton) was a “grand strategist who psychically carried out plans and actualized them with precision”. However, he mentions that the reality was that his father actually “thrived on change” when it came to many decisions. Pages 80-81: Sam Walton listed some of his family pictures such as those of this parents and grandparents, as well as his wife, children, and a Ben Franklin franchise in Newport, Arkansas. Page 95: Sam Walton created and wrote down a five year plan of the business ideas that he intended to accomplish. He mentioned that he saved these plans for a long time and found (several years later) that his target goals were exceeded by at least 15 to 20 percent. Pages 240-241: There is an inclusion of more pictures from Sam Walton’s years with Walmart such as a happy picture of him with his wife Helen. There is also a fascinating 1990 feature of HillaryClinton as Wal-Mart’s Board of Directors. There is also a postscript by Rob Walton due to the fact that Sam Walton was in the final stages of his life when writing this book. There is much more featured in “Made in America” by Sam Walton for those who are curious to know more about the founder behind Walmart and the actual company of Walmart.

Stirring Musical Experimentation, November 29, 2013
I have been familiar with Pitbull since the period of 2004 when I was living in California and heard his "Culo" and "Toma" songs that were played on one of the mainstream radio stations. This Meltdown EP takes a completely different music direction from his early days in an enjoyable type of way. I only purchased Meltdown as its own music purchase due to already previously purchasing and liking "Global Warming" in November 2012 (which is also fun to listen to). Timber is my favorite song from the Meltdown collection due to the light-hearted music blend of dance and folk/country music. Do It And Sun In California would probably make good club hits, especially with the dance vibe of Sun In California. However, I confess that All The Things and That High even more due to the electronic and dance vibe. Additionally, I feel that Pitbull's uninhibited music spirit comes out even more in All The Things and That High.

Dido’s Heartfelt Vocals Showcase, November 29, 2013
I remember first hearing “Here With Me” by Dido in during the period of Autumn 2000. Fast forward to 2002 when I met my husband and I noticed that he also listened to Dido. Naturally, I have good memories of her music and decided to give her Greatest Hits collection a listen. She includes many of the popular and unique songs on this collection such as Thank You, White Flag, Here With Me, Hunter, and Stan (feat. Eminem). I also liked Sand In My Shoes. It is a good song, but I would have to say that Stan is among the most tragic due to the track being about a music fan taking their admiration to dangerous extremes. Aside from this, Dido’s Greatest Hits is great for those who like music with blends of pop and indie rock music.

Musical Brightness, November 29, 2013
Music by Texas first came into my awareness in the early 2000’s (around 2001-2002) when I first heard her song “Inner Smile” on a European music import that was purchased in Hong Kong. I then heard her music again on a different European music import collection in Japan via her “Summer Sun” song around 2002. I reluctantly confess that this song helped get me through a dramatic breakup from one of my ex-lovers before having the good fortune of eventually meeting my husband. I then knew that I had to eventually get the music by Texas after hearing the “Inner Smile” song after watching the “Bend It Like Beckham” film around the 2005-2007 timeframe. Finally, I had the chance to purchase the Texas Greatest Hits collection in January 2010 (while living in Orlando, Florida). There are 18 songs on this quality collection in addition to the two great songs I just mentioned such as “In Demand”, “Say What You Want”, “So In Love With You”, “In Our Lifetime” and others. Greatest Hits by Texas is best for those who enjoy 90’s/early 2000’s pop music with hints of indie rock and dance melodies.

Dancing Sunshine, November 29, 2013
Magic Summertime has a total of 60 songs spread across three cds from an eclectic range of artists. Please know that I understand that favorite songs on this collection are going to differ from each person. However, the following listing is a representation of the variety available on this collection for those with eclectic music tastes: Rock Your Body by Justin Timberlake, Walking On Sunshine by Katrina & The Waves, Whenever Wherever by Shakira, The River Of Dreams by Billy Joel, Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley, Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden, Baby I Love Your Way by Big Mountain, Love Shack by The B-52's, Gold by Spandau Ballet, Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer, The River Of Dreams by Billy Joel, and Rhythm Is Gonna Get You by Gloria Estefan. I also admit that "You're Still The One" by Shania Twain and Sunshine by Gabriel are also some of the songs that I greatly enjoy from Magic Summertime. This is because Sunshine by Gabriel perfectly describes how I feel about my husband. Due to this wide range of music, Magic Summertime is best for those who listen to various music genres.

Home and/or Festival Trance, November 29, 2013
I admit that I only heard about the Armada Trance series after discovering it one of the music merchandise stores sponsored by Armin Van Buuren. My first collection contained fun chillout music, which eventually influenced me to hear some of the electronica/trance collections. Armada Trance 18 is a continuation of an intriguing electronic/dance/trance music series that include various artists such as Chicane, Ferry Corsten, Christian Burns, Armin Van Buuren himself, Art, Orjan Nilsen, Markus Schulz, Sara Howells, BT, York, Conjure One, Leigh Nash, ATB, Dash Berlin, Paul Oakenfold, Ashley Wallbridge, and many more. There are 40 tracks combined in this music collection. This is a great trance collection for parties and/or when you crave a jolt of upbeat music energy.

Becoming Happier, December 14, 2013
I reluctantly confess that “52 Ways To Beat Depression Naturally” by Nicole McCance M.A., C. Psych, Assoc. caught my attention due to my own journey with healing my mild depression. I have actually been dealing with my depression since the fall of 2011 (around the time I was 31 years old), but I finally realized that I had mild depression around two months ago (around three weeks before I turned 33). I accidently came upon my discovery after unexpectedly receiving the good news of getting the job I have now. I actually felt better after becoming gainfully employed and realized that I was mildly depressed mainly from striving to find my professional/career place in life. Yes, I know that this is materialistic, but I am at least thankful to now be aware that my happiness/mild depression is mainly tied into securing my appropriate career/professional place in life. With that said, 52 Ways To Beat Depression Naturally by Nicole McCance M.A., Psych. Assoc contains among the following healing gems: Pages 33-40- Tips To Shift Negative Thinking To Positive Thinking, listening to the positive voice, and ways of distracting oneself. Exposure Therapy Journaling page 54,Letting Go of Guilt page 56, End of Day Reflection pages 64-65, Gratitude Exercise pages 70-71, physical exercise pages 102-103 and much more. “52 Ways To Beat Depression Naturally” by Nicole McCance M.A., Psych Assoc is best for those dealing with mild to sometimes moderate depression.

More For Those Already Employed, December 14, 2013
I cheerfully purchased How To Land A Top Paying Federal Job by Lily Madeleine Whiteman at least over eight months ago with the feeling of believing that I would eventually get selected for a federal government job from my job experience of honorably serving in the military and successfully obtaining my bachelor’s degree within 3 years and 4 months. The following are some of the good points to this book: Pages xv-xvi- myths about federal government jobs, pages 10-11: other sources of agency openings, and pages 255-260 (glossary terms). Obviously, there is more to this book, but I reluctantly give it only three stars due to the fact that this book would mostly benefit those who have an unemployment gap of a year or less. I applied for government jobs both within the D.C. area some outside of the area. The good news is that many of them responded back and let me know that I did meet the qualifications for the job posted (especially some of the jobs that related to what I did during my 8.5 years in the United States Navy). The tough news is that these same replies let me know that I qualified, but that a different applicant was chosen. My husband did his best to cheer me up by mentioning that I at least heard back from many of them because he did not hear back at all from any of the government jobs that he tried for. At the minimum reason, I must keep How To Land A Top Paying Federal Job by Lily Whitman for my husband due to the fact that he is currently unemployed and being gainfully employed would obviously help his self- esteem.

Classic Rock/ Soft Rock Melds, December 14, 2013
I previously purchased this collection of The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac is a two disc set back in the August of 2008 as a gift for my mother in law. Truthfully, I was only taking a wild guess that she would like The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac due to previously noticing that she liked to listen to a lot of country music. Fortunately, my guess turned out to be correct and she let me know that I was correct in guessing that she would enjoy this cd. Luckily, I had the chance to eventually obtain The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac collection for myself and must say that the soft rock music goes with many of the lyrics to the songs. I personally enjoy Everywhere, Gypsy Woman, and You Make Loving Fun the most within this two cd collection. However, there are various styles of soft rock/classic rock music to appeal to various listeners on The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac.

Adrenaline Tunes, December 14, 2013
Seether: 2002-2013 is a two disc set with 15 rock songs on the first cd and 12 rock songs on the second cd. I am familiar with some of the music from Seether due to first hearing some of their songs on the radio such as Remedy and Broken (around 2005). I also had a chance to catch a fun live performance from Seether when they opened as one of the musical acts of an exciting Nickelback concert that I attended back in April 2012. There are many satisfying songs for various rock music lovers within this collection containing superb vocals and quality guitar riffs. My personal favorites from the two disc set are: Rise Above This, Country Song, Tonight, Careless Whisper, Gasoline, and Seether.

Wolverine In Love, December 14, 2013
My husband really wanted to check out The Wolverine due to being a big fan of the Wolverine films. We checked it out together and I noticed that this good film centers around the Wolverine character (played by Hugh Jackman) striking up an expected frienship bond with an attractive but skilled fighter female and a beautiful but vulnerable woman years after saving the life of a soldier in Japan during the second World War. The Wolverine reunites with the man in Japan years later to say goodbye as he is also asked to look after his granddaughter. There is much more to this film, but I must refrain from saying more for those who haven’t yet seen the 2013 Wolverine film. However, The Wolverine is perfect for the person on your life who is a big fan of the Wolverine story (my husband greatly enjoyed the plot development and acting in this film).

Divine Encyclopedia, December 7, 2013
The Complete Encyclopedia of Angels: A Guide To Celestial Beings To Help, Heal, And Assist You In Everyday Life by Susan Gregg is a one of a kind book that deals with calling on spiritual helpers for various life situation. One must have an open mind because the book draws from different cultures/spiritual paths and deities: Merlin,Archangel Sariel from Judaism, and Christianity (page 24), Isis from Egyptian culture (page 196), and Thoth from Egyptian culture (pages 276-277), plus many more. My only caveat with this book was that there was not a page specifically for an individual person's higher self. My reasoning for this has to do with my own personal belief that an awareness and connection with the higher self is both a powerful and important supplement. Aside from that caveat, there is an index at the back and the book is both descriptive and evokes a sense of hope.

Unique Tropico, December 7, 2013
Tropico (Single + Video collection) showcases Lana Del Rey’s creative abilities and also stars Shaun Ross. The reasoning for the explicitness warning is due to the controversial nature of the Tropico film that accompanies this collection. For instance,a scene where the “businessmen” get entertained involve some unexpected circumstances from surprise guests. The song “Gods And Monsters” shows Lana Del Rey and her friend (played by Shaun Ross) hanging out with a group of people during what looks like a carefree summertime. My favorite scenes involve them both in the beginning in what looks like their personal paradise (due to the images of a unicorn, and sightings of Elvis Presley, John Wayne, and Marilyn Monroe). I also liked the scene towards the end where Lana Del Rey and her Shaun Ross are blissful and enjoying each other’s presence in what looks to be a bright sunny forest. However, there are various scenes packed in the “Tropico” film (around 27 minutes) to please many people. I am familiar with Lana Del Rey due to previously purchasing her brilliant Paradise music collection and her heartfelt rendition of “Young And Beautiful” from the Great Gatsby soundtrack. However, newcomers to her music would also benefit because included with the Tropico film is a mini music sampler of Gods & Monsters, Body Electric, and Bel Air.

Spiritual Self Judgement, December 3, 2013
I confess that I spotted the Mickey’s Christmas Carol dvd during one of my work shifts at Walmart. Please also know that I do enjoy ordering products from amazon and plan to still do so. However, I went ahead and purchased the viewing of Mickey’s Christmas Carol from my company’s website as a show of support for being a Walmart employee. With that said, Mickey’s Christmas Carol revolves around an ambitious but stern character who is forced to see how his past actions have affected some of the other characters that he came into contact with. A part of him starts to show remorse when seeing how he hurt someone that loved him. Mickey’s Christmas Carol is a heartfelt family film that also includes the following bonuses: Mickey Mouse In Yodelberg, The Hockey Champ, Pluto’s Christmas Tree, The Art of Skiing, and Corn Chips.

Unique And Excellent Music For The Wolf of Wall Street Movie, December 21, 2013
Due to a tight personal schedule this upcoming week, I reluctantly postpone seeing the Wolf of Wall Street but plan to do so by the time it is released as a rental and/or dvd release. I say reluctantly because I actually wanted to see what looks to be a brilliant film. On the plus side, this Wolf of Wall Street soundtrack is a satisfying consolation due to the great range of musicians representing the rock and jazz music genres. Movin Out (Anthony’s Song) by Billy Joel, C’est Si Bon by Eartha Kitt, Double Dutch by Malcolm McLaren, Meth Lab Zoso Sticker by 7Horse,Mrs. Robinson by the Lemonheads, and Cast Your Fate To The Wind by Allen Touissant are some of the multiple songs from this soundtrack that caught my attention. However, there are also more enjoyable songs on this collection by various artists to like for those who like to listen to an eclectic range of music, those who listen to jazz and/or rock, and/or those who plan on seeing the upcoming release of the Wolf of Wall Street.

Parental Influence, December 21, 2013
Saving Mr. Banks is a film that carefully centers around Walt Disney’s initial challenge in convincing the author of Mary Poppins (Pamela Travers) to hand over the concept of what Mary Poppins stands for. The movie includes scenes that flash back to how her viewpoints were shaped during her childhood years in Australia and the relationship with her parents. Each of the actors and actresses contributed to the shaping of the movie’s depiction that captured Walt Disney’s interactions with Pamela Travers (Both Colin Farrell and Paul Giamatti are also featured in Saving Mr. Banks). However, I admit that I enjoyed watching Emma Thompsons gifted portrayal of a woman who initially seems snobbish when it comes to her interactions with both Disney and the other cast members. However, Emma Thompson carefully puts forth great intensity (through her emotions) in helping the viewing audience understand the root reasons behind her distant nature. I also enjoyed Tom Hanks favorable impression of Disney because he used his acting skills to portray a man who tactfully found a way to help the author understand why she had reservations in sharing the book. It was also heartfelt that Hanks played a character who cared very much about keeping a past promise to his children. Both Walt Disney and the workers initially get the cold treatment by Pamela Travers. Obviously, I must refrain from sharing more to keep in mind other film goers who have yet to see Saving Mr. Banks.

2011 Ministry Of Sound Compilation, December 21, 2013
Fortunately, I had the chance to purchase Twenty Years-Ministry of Sound for just $4.95 (U.S. Currency). This collection was very much worth it to me because of the exciting assortment of dance pop and ambient/trance music songs by various artists within this collection. Soul Heaven by The Goodfellas, Believe by Ministers De-La-Funk feat. Jocelyn Brown, Dreaming of You by Thrillseekers, and Drifting Away by Lange feat. Skye are some of my favorite songs on this edition of Twenty Years-Ministry of Sound. However, there are a mix of songs for many men and woman who like a mix of past dance and club music ranging from artists such as "Fly Life" by Basement Jaxx, Everytime by Lustral, Everyday by Agnelli & Nelson, and Love Simulation by Humate. There are also classics on this collection such as On The Beach by York, Sandstorm by Darude, and Universal Nation by Push.

For Both Locals And Tourists, December 14, 2013
"Not For Tourists Guide To Washington DC 2014" caught my focus due to my previous familiarity and purchase of the 2013 edition. I originally was thinking about leaving in the D.C. area due to the cost of living. However, I purchased this book after my husband and I made a firm decision to stick with living here permanently even with the high cost of living and even if we ever had to temporarily live somewhere else and come back to the D.C. area years later (due to the abundance of job opportunities within the Washington D.C. area both for those with a bachelor's degree or higher and even for those who do not yet have any type of college degrees). With that said, despite the title, "Not For Tourists Guide to Washington DC 2014" is actually good for tourists as well as residents of the Washington D.C. area due to some of the following information in this book:
Listings of restaurants, landmarks, and nightlife around various areas such as Dupont Circle/Adams Morgan, Logan Circle/U Street, Tenleytown/Friendship Heights, Bethesda, Cherrydale/Balston, and George Washington University. Pages 205-207: Information on where to go for sailing, boating, rowing, golf, and hiking. Pages 214-235: Extensive details on where to go for information on getting around within the D.C. area. It is common knowledge that the Washington D.C. area is one of the top places within the U.S. for public transportation (many places where owning a car is more or less optional). Pages 246-247: Calendar of Events Pages 261-275: Inclusion of a multitude of information pertaining to arts and entertainment within the Washington D.C. area.

Facing Smaug, December 14, 2013
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug follows the return of Gandalf the Grey as he encourages Thorin Oakenshield to go on a certain mission that reconnects him to Bilbo and a strong group of dwarves. There is a certain artifact that Thorin must obtain (with assistance from others) in order to solidify the actuality of him becoming king. The main challenge is that this special item is also located in the abode of a magical and dangerous dragon. I would have to admit that my favorite actor portrayals from this film are Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel, Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield, and Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins. This is because Lilly plays a powerful and skilled warrior who shows compassion for others and uses her gift in battle both fairly and to help others. Armitage does the tough challenge of making the best decisions while carefully considering the lives of those in his charge while Freeman crafts a superb depiction of someone taking certain actions for the greater good of others while refining his own journey. However, there is also talented acting from other actors in this film that are going to appeal to many men and women who enjoy fantasy type films such as this. I must avoid saying too much more out of consideration for those who have yet to see this movie. However, I feel guided to at least say that further information on The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug can be found on thehobbitdotcom website and features the return of Ian Mckellen and the inclusion of actors such as Orlando Bloom, Stephen Fry, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Lee Pace.

Connection To Future Self, December 14, 2013
Create Your Perfect Future: Heal Your Past To Create The Life Of Your Dreams by Anne Jirsch with Anthea Courtenay contains information on ways to heal patterns and memories from the past and connect with the essence of a man or woman’s future self. For instance, on page 34 information is given pertaining to rewriting memories while pages 48-57 covers ways on strengthening the connection with your future self. There is also a discussion included in the book relating to the topic of when change is forced on you (page 150) and bridging past, present, and future lifetimes (pages 156-59). This book appealed to me due to the fact that there have been a number of things I would have done differently after May 2010 (just not before). This is due to the fact that I reluctantly confess that I now realize that I had an abundance of golden opportunities to most powerfully shape my life from May 2010 to May 2013. The positives: some of the actions I have taken have helped me secure my acceptance of my dream grad school and have contributed to why my marriage between my husband and I fortunately only gets better. With that said, there are an abundance of writings that I wish that I could take back on what I wrote both online as well as offline, as well as take back some of the things that I said (both online and offline). However, I let many of the things from my past stay online to chart and keep track of my spiritual and psychological progress. I intend to write down my progress from this book within 3-5 years from now (at the earliest) due to the time needed to assimilate and apply many of the exercises in this book. “Create Your Perfect Future: Heal Your Past To Create The Life Of Your Dreams” by Anne Jirsch with Anthea Courenay is great for those who are open to the idea of past, present, and future lifetimes.

Future Self Glimpses, December 14, 2013
Learning From The Future by Mary Hykel Hunt is a short book (102 pages) that touches on tapping into the potential probabilities that are projected into your future. My personal experience that leads me to believe in this possibility has to do with the fact that many of my dreams that made an appearance in my sleep have come and continue to do so in my waking life. I strongly believe that this is no accident and I am being shown these type of dreams in order to help me more strongly take steps to joyfully change my life (with aligned action) in the physical world. In the preface, the author makes it clear that she is focusing on ways to tune into multiple personal futures (due to one choice and/or action having a ripple effect on personal reality). Information is included such as how to know if what you are seeing is real, what to do if shown something that is different from what is initially visualized, and what to do if seeing the future is taking longer than expected (pages 46-47). There is also a listing of a select bibliography/further reading future at the end of the book (pages 101-102).

Supernatural Horror Story Of A Twisted Coven, December 14, 2013
American Horror Story: Coven caught my interest after a coworker at my job recommended this television series to me. Normally, I am not one to watch horror themed television, but I gave it a chance due to my coworker’s persuasive take on why the show is captivating. The show centers around the time periods of the 1800s and modern day as supernatural rivalries surface between witches such as the characters of Fiona Good, Myrtle Snow, Marie Laveau, and Misty Day. Despite her own hardened nature,Fiona has a daughter named Cordelia who she loves very much. Fiona and Cordelia end up becoming mentors to the young witches in training: Queenie,Zoe Benson, Madison Montgomery, and Nan. Fiona is doing her best to convince her daughter Cordelia to prepare her young protégés for the magical battles that are about to take place. Initially, Cordelia sees her mom more as a nuisance and just wants her to go away. For justified reasons, Fiona is also naturally suspicious of the motives involving her daughter’s husband. The protégés are far from shrieking violets themselves. I must refrain from explaining why for those who have yet to see the show, but the reasons for my analysis of the protégés are seen within the first four episodes. In modern day, witch Marie Laveau and Fiona Good end up having one of the most heated rivalries for certain reasons. This is what I am about to lead into. The other actors and actresses of this season contribute to the plot growth of American Horror Story: Coven in unexpected ways. However, I have to confess that my favorite characters from season 3 of American Horror Story: Coven are a tie between Jessica Lange’s Fiona Good character and Angela Bassett’s Marie Laveau character. I enjoyed Angela Bassett’s terrific portrayal as Marie Laveau because she powerfully held her own magic against forces of racism and being threatened with an old enemy. Angela Bassett’s Laveau character also has a magical gift of “summoning” what she requests to carry out her aims. Despite the sinister character nature, I also like Jessical Lange’s Fiona Good character due to the fact that she plays a woman who is not afraid to confront the evils of racism during the series and plays both a strong and resilient spirit. For instance, Lange convincingly plays a Fiona Good persona who is not afraid to tell Delphine LaLaurie that she got what was coming to her for her evil ways during the 1830’s as a blood thirsty socialite. Lange’s Fiona Good character also showed a brilliant complexity when making it clear that she will not tolerate racism and appropriately making La Laurie serve Queenie (after LaLaurie made some disparaging racial remarks to Queenie). I also saw the humanity in her when she got two of her protégés out of brief brushes with the law and came to the aid of a mother in a hospital. Last, but not least, showing the will to keep on going in life even as those around her try to indirectly drive her to suicide.

Music Chemistry, December 14, 2013
Gasoline And Matches by Leann Rimes, Robb Thomas, and Jeff Beck is a fun folk country/pop/rock song that appears to be about being around someone who makes you feel alive. The vocal collaboration between Leann Rimes and Robb Thomas fits perfectly with the online music video to the song. Gasoline And Matches by Leann Rimes, Robb Thomas, and Jeff Beck is great for those who like music mashup songs that combine folk country, blues, and pop.
